Task 2 - Setting Research and Ideas Generation

Chosen interior environment:
Spacestation
Set in the distant future, but designed like a 1970s vision of the future, featuring over-the-top, dated futuristic technology. It is clear that something has caused the crew to leave suddenly.

Below are a number of images that I collected to help me decide what I wanted my space station to look like. Since my space station is meant to be designed like a 1970s station, I used the films Alien and Star Wars to get inspiration.

This is an image which I inspired my design for my reactor room, although my design will be much larger than in the image.

This is one of two images of corridors that will connect my entire station together. This corridor is much rounder and narrower than the other, and I will use a similar design for my smaller corridors that connect rooms together.

This is an image of some sort of synthetic production/repair room from the game Alien Isolation. I chose this image because I like the layout of the room and will likely use it to inspire my medical centre.

This is an image of some sort of airlock, which contains multiple lockers and a computer on the wall. At first I wanted to have airlocks to connect travelling ships to the station, but instead I decided to create some hangars in the style of Star Wars.

This image is from the game Alien Isolation, based on the film Alien from 1979. I chose this image because I am going to use a similar layout for my research rooms, although the rooms will be much brighter.

This is another image from the game Alien Isolation, showing a computer and the kind of technology that people in the 1970s thought we'd have in the future.

This image is a canteen/bar on board a space ship in the game Starcraft 2. I chose this image because I think it looks rather industrial, and want to incorporate that style into parts of my station.

This is one of two images of corridors that will connect my entire station together. This corridor is much wider and more 'square' than the other corridor, and I will use a similar design of this as a central connection to each section of the station.

This is an image of the cockpit of a space ship. I chose this image because I want to use a similar style, including the large front window, for my 'command centre' of my space station.
(Source)
This is an image of a hangar bay from Star Wars. At first I was going to have multiple airlocks which ships could attach to so they could dock with the station, but decided to use full-sized hangars instead, following a similar design to Star Wars.

This is the best image I could find to show how I want my space station's bridge/command centre to look like. I wanted the section for the highest ranking staff to be on a slightly elevated platform at the front of the bridge, like in the image.

I wanted to make some dome-shaped rooms on my space station, and these two images are the best I could find to show my idea. The rooms would have either a a large round window on the top, or would have a ceiling with many lights instead, and I wanted the rooms to be rather tall.

Textures
The images below are textures I have found and may use as textures for my environment.
